What does Apostle Paul mean by the following statement?
Galatiyim (Galatians) 3:13 TS2009
[13] Messiah redeemed us from the curse of the Torah, having become a curse for us – for it has been written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs upon a tree.” –
The Prophets tell us, hinting at the answer:
Neḥemyah (Nehemiah) 10:28-29 TS2009
[28] And the rest of the people, the priests, the LΔwites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the Nethinim, and all those who had separated themselves from the peoples of the lands unto the Torah of Elohim, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, all who had knowledge and understanding,
[29] were strengthening their brothers, their nobles, and were ππΌ entering into a curse and into an oath to walk in the Torah of Elohim, which was given by Mosheh the servant of Elohim, and to guard and do all the commands of ΧΧΧΧ our Master, and His right-rulings and His laws,
Dani’Δl (Daniel) 9:11 TS2009
[11] “And all Yisra’Δl have transgressed Your Torah, and turned aside, so as not to obey Your voice. So the ππΌ curse and the oath written in the Torah of Mosheh the servant of Elohim have been poured out on us, for we have sinned against Him.
Now let's look at the Curse of the Law π
Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 29:14-21 TS2009
[14] And not with you alone I am making this covenant and this oath,” [15] but with him who stands here with us today before ΧΧΧΧ our Elohim, as well as with him who is not here with us today. [16] “For you know how we dwelt in the land of Mitsrayim and how we passed through the nations which you passed through, [17] and you saw their abominations and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were with them, [18] lest there should be among you a man or woman or clan or tribe, whose heart turns away today from ΧΧΧΧ our Elohim, to go and serve the mighty ones of these nations, lest there should be among you a root bearing bitterness or wormwood. [19] “And it shall be, when he hears the words of this ππΌ curse, that he should bless himself in his heart, saying, ‘I have peace though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart,’ in order to add drunkenness to thirst. [20] “ΧΧΧΧ would not forgive him, but rather, the displeasure of ΧΧΧΧ and His jealousy shall burn against that man, and every ππΌ curse that is written in this book shall settle on him, and ΧΧΧΧ shall blot out his name from under the heavens. [21] “And ΧΧΧΧ shall separate him for evil, out of all the tribes of Yisra’Δl, according to all the ππΌ curses of the covenant that are written in this Book of the Torah.
The curse of the Torah/Law is on ALL who sin, all who do not uphold the Law. That is what belief in Yahshua has redeemed us from, so we can TURN to OBEY HIM, having YAH’S Law now written in one's heart, as Torah PROPHESIED.
Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 30:6-8 TS2009
[6] “And ΧΧΧΧ your Elohim shall ππΌ circumcise your heart and the heart of your seed, to love ΧΧΧΧ your Elohim with all your heart and with all your being, so that you might live,
[7] and ΧΧΧΧ your Elohim shall put all these
ππΌ curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecuted you.
[8] “And you shall turn back and obey the voice of ΧΧΧΧ and do all His commands which I command you today.
This is why James (and Paul subsequently) did not put on the Gentiles coming into the faith, PHYSICAL circumcision. Peter determined by the works of Cornelius (who was striving to observe Torah. He was fasting, attending Synagogue, and praying to YAH - Acts 10:34,35) that the gift of salvation is also come to the Gentiles -
As prophesied:
Yeshayah (Isaiah) 56:1-5 TS2009
[1] Thus said ΧΧΧΧ, “Guard right-ruling, and do righteousness, for near is My deliverance to come, and My righteousness to be revealed. [2] “Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who becomes strong in it, guarding the Sabbath lest he profane it, and guarding his hand from doing any evil. [3] “And let not the son of the foreigner who has joined himself to ΧΧΧΧ speak, saying, ‘ΧΧΧΧ has certainly separated me from His people,’ nor let the eunuch say, ‘Look I am a dry tree.’ ” [4] For thus said ΧΧΧΧ, “To the eunuchs who guard My Sabbaths, and have chosen what pleases Me, and are holding onto My covenant: [5] to them I shall give in My house and within My walls a place and a name better than that of sons and daughters – I give them an everlasting name that is not cut off.
Never do these prophecies show the Torah/Law being abolished or done away with.
Torah gives Life and blessings. Torahlessness brings curses and death. Choose wisely.
